"The Earth on Turtle's Back" is the story of how the earth was formed and where it came from. Students can compare and make connections of the traditional story and the scientific story.
Chief Dan George Chief Dan George (1899-1981) was a Coast Salish chief. He is well known for his writings and acting. His writings, especially in "My Heart Soars" reflect a lot of nature. Students could use his works, and works similar to his, to see if they can identify what area the poet is writing about just through examining the words.
