Canadian Geographic Education This website is great resource that leads to lesson plans as well as resources for student work. Created through the Royal Canadian Geographic Society, Canadian Geographic Education (CG Education) looks to bring geographic literacy into Canadian classrooms and make geography relevant to students. While visiting the site under the "Resources" tab (on the left hand side), there is "Lesson Plans". These plans have been developed through the association of Canadian Geographic teachers and many other organizations, such as the Canadian International Development Agency, Statistics Canada, the National Geography Society, and many others. Although this site requires some time to sift through relevant lesson plans, there is a feature that lets the user chose specific topics, what level of education, and what province the teacher wishes to focus on. All lesson plans come in formats which allows teachers to save a copy of the lessons for themselves. The Canadian Geographic Education website deserves many hours of exploration into the resources it offers teachers, as well as the opportunities and career ideas that it offers students.
The Canadian Atlas Online This resource provides basic information, tests, activities, as well as lesson plans specifically catered to Canadian geography. "Explore by Theme" allows visitors to become educated on the different regions of Canada. The lesson plans are focused on a wide range of Canadian-georaphy themes, which can be filtered and organized by topic, region, and grade level. The "Glossary of Terms" section is a great feature for both students and teachers to expand their knowledge. The "Games and Quizzes" section provides crosswords, word jumbles, and quizzes for more than 40 geographical topics. What is disappointing, however, is that the games and quizzes must be completed online and cannot be downloaded or printed for class use.
Natural Resources Canada This is a website is created for geography teachers who need outline maps for labelling. The maps are for many ages, as they come with the names of cities, provinces, or bodies of water already on the maps, or they are available without any labels. Accessiable in PDF format or JPEG, they are printer friendly.
